WINTER 2008
CELEBRATING OUR 41st YEAR OF SERVICE TO THE YOUTH TRACK CHEER AND FOOTBALL COMMUNITY

TRACK PRACTICE SCHEDULE CHANGE
Track pratice has begun and as always it has gotton off to a slow start due to the weather. EPP will be holding practice and continue sign-ups at practice throughout the month of March. Dates and times have been posted to the calendar on the website.

Practice times are from 5.30 to 7.30 on Mondays and Thursdays with addtional practices scheduled for Saturdays from 10-noon.

Practices are being held at Elmore Park Middle School located at 6330 Althorne, Bartlett Tn. 38133.

The reason for the sudden change is to make it easier for our coaches who are in college to make practice and for us to get more time on the Craigmont Track.

For more information visit us on the web at www.elmoreparkpackers.com or contact DeShana Wallace at 219-3039.
Sign-ups are for boys and girls ages 6-15. If you are a new participant, bring a copy of your birth certificate.
DUST OFF THOSE RUNNING SHOES: COME BE A PART OF OUR 08 TRACK SQUAD
Hey Guys, Its time to dust off those running shoes and start getting ready for the 08 Track & Field Season.

Practice has begun so now is the time to makeyour plans to participate.
EPP had a great record setting 07 season and we fully expect more of the same in 08.

Participation is open to boys and girls ages 6-15 and is a great way to get back into condition after the long winters layoff.

A special note to our football participants. It is highly recommended that you take the time to participate in track. You get to hang out with your team-mates and at the same time work on conditioning for the upcoming football season. The importance of showing up in the first day of practice in July in shape cannot be over emphasized.

Another great thing about Track is there is something for everyone regardless of skill level. You don't have to be a speed demon or run a 4 minute mile to participate. SYS Track & Field has skill level participation for novice and advanced participants. The important thing is to get out there, participate and get moving.

For more information on our track program visit us on the web at www.elmoreparkpackers.com and click the Track Homepage link.

SEE YOU SOON !!!!
FROM THE FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES: LEAVING YOUR MARK

Leaving a Mark?

READY: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." -Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

SET: An imprint is a permanent mark. To leave a mark means to engrave, etch, impress or inscribe. When I was 8 years old, I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride my older brother's motorcycle. I wanted to show him how "big" I was, so I took off with reckless abandon. About 100 yards down the dirt road, my front tire hit a hole that I hadn’t seen. As I flew through the air, my life passed before my eyes! I landed in a ditch, and the motorcycle landed on my back. Ouch! Thankfully, as a result of being in the ditch, the only part of the motorcycle that was touching my back was the muffler. As the muffler burned through my shirt and my flesh, I experienced a great deal of pain. My brother rescued me, and I was forbidden to ride his bike ever again. Even though that event happened 30 years ago, I still have a nice burn mark on my back. It made an imprint of a hot muffler—a permanent mark.

Every time I compete or coach, I leave an imprint. Whether it is a good or a bad impression is up to me. The ultimate question, however, is not whether or not I leave a good imprint, but if I leave an imprint of myself or of Jesus. It is so true that the athlete or coach who is walking with Jesus won’t leave an imprint of himself or herself, but instead, leave an imprint of Christ. What a challenge! Teammates and competitors either get more of us or more of Jesus. Paul writes in Galatians 2:20 that we need to die to ourselves so that there will be no mark of us.

Today, whether you are playing or coaching be committed to leaving behind the imprint of Christ!

GO:

1. What kind of imprint is left after you compete? Is it your imprint, or Jesus' imprint?

2. What are some practical things you can do to make sure that the imprint will be the Lord's and not your own?

WORKOUT:

Psalm 96:7-8 Romans 14:7-8 Colossians 3:23 OVERTIME:

"Lord, my goal is to compete in such a way as to leave behind Your mark instead of mine. It is hard, Lord. I am consumed with my own performance. Lord, break me of the hold that competition has on me. My prayer is that all who see me compete will know that it is all about You. Transform me into Your agent of change. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."
